The Ravenshoe Timber Festival celebrates our local artists and beautiful timber during the first 2 weeks of October annually.

The Festival of the Forest is an exhibit of unique and exquisite works of art from Queensland and afar.

Competition Entry Information
Forms
Form 1 (Blue Form) is for all competitive entries whether they are for sale or not.
Return Form by: Wednesday 2nd October.
Form 2 (Pink Form) is for items which are for sale only.
Delivery of Items
All items for competition or for sale should be delivered to Festival Hall Ravenshoe by Friday 4th October before 4.00pm.
Judging will take place on Saturday 5th October from 7.00am to 12.30pm, before opening at 1.00 pm

Open
For all entries that are not Novice or School
Novice
Novice is for those adult competitors wo have never won a prize on a similar competition or section.
Only first is offered for each section in the Novice Category. An entry may not win both the novice and open categories.
School
School is for bona fide school students only.
All entries should be authenticated as the student’s work.
Prize winning entries from previous years will be accepted for display and for sale purposes only,
Unless entered in different sections from that which the previous prize was won. All models and art forms must be crafted from timber. No commercial kits.
Sections
A Art – Sculpture Carving (Viewed from all angles – All pieces must be crafted of/from 90% timber)
B Art – Painting/Drawing (oil/acrylic), (watercolour), (charcoal/ink/pen/pencil) *Art subjects must Illustrate an aspect of timber, “Emphasis must be on timber.” Flowers/posies/leaves/abstract or flower garden paintings will not be accepted. All photos must be entered into the photography competition.
C Wood Craft – High or Low Relief Carving (Viewed from front (flat back) coming out of a flat piece)
D Wood Craft – Large item/s
E Wood Craft – Medium item/s
F Wood Craft – Small item/s
G Wood Craft – Intarsia
H Wood Craft – Inlay
I Wood Craft – Segmented wood turning
J Wood Craft – Spindle wood turning
K Wood Craft – Plate wood turning
L Art – Pyrography
M Wood Craft – Miscellaneous
N Art – Miscellaneous (Subject must be crafted from at least 90% timber, e.g. Wood craft that is painted)

Other Information
The Festival of the Forest Committee will deduct 15% commission from the proceeds of all items sold.

All items for competition or for sale should be delivered to Festival Hall Ravenshoe by Friday 4th October before 4.00pm. All items must be checked in upon delivery on the entry form by a committee member. Deliveries can be made during the week in the lead up to the opening, if hall is unattended, please call Anne on 0400798714. Please return BLUE entry forms by Wednesday 2nd October if possible either by post or email.
Painted woodcraft entries will not be judged unless stated in category N. Judges need to see choice of timber, method of construction, joins, grains, etc.
Each piece of work must be clearly marked on the base with the TITLE AND ARTIST’S NAME. If the item is not for sale, please mark NFS. A $ value for the item must be provided on the entry form for insurance purposes. The Committee reserves the right to refuse an entry that is obviously over valued.
The Committee will not be responsible for the loss or damage by any means to work accepted. Exhibitors are assured; however, that extreme care will be exercised at all times.
All competitive items must remain on display until the close of the festival, items can be collected SUNDAY 20th October from 9am to 3pm.
Judging will take place on Saturday 5th October from 7.00am to 12.30pm, before opening at 1.00 pm
ALL ITEMS MUST BE CHECKED OUT BY A COMMITTEE MEMBER. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN WRONG PAYMENTS.
